Description

The healing properties of Thai Bael tea (Matoom) is known since ancient times and is successfully used in folk and traditional medicine as astringent and antiseptic agent in the gastro-intestinal diseases.
All parts of the plant contain alkaloids, coumarins, steroids.
Fruits contain essential oil, gum, protein, carbohydrates, carotene, thiamine, Riboflavin (1%), nicotinic, ascorbic and tartaric – acid. The most pharmacologically active component of the fruit – marmeladen.
Bael is a beautiful subtropical, evergreen, slow growing tree that grows in dry forests and plains of southern India and Burma, Pakistan, Thailand. In India has religious significance and is considered a sacred tree of Shiva.
Other names: Bengal Quince, Golden or Stone Apple, Bengal quince, maredu, bael, bilpatra, kumbala, vilwam, kuvalum, matoom. The tree blooms greenish-yellow, fragrant flowers.
Dried fruit bael friut (matum) very effective for colds and used as a tonic and vitamins to the diet: when colds and infectious diseases (acute respiratory disease, influenza), it helps with rhinitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis, inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract. It is also used as an astringent and antiseptic for gastrointestinal diseases, has expectorant properties, strengthens the heart.
Application: brew tea bag in 150 ml of hot water.
